Posted in the v8 forum with no reply.... I am ordering the adapter monday so thought I would try here.
Ok heres whats up, getting ready to order the adapter from advance adapters to do a 5.0/AOD swap in my 1986 ranger xl. I noticed the transmission and adapter length for the AOD with the adapter is something like 29.50" my stock FM145 is something just under 27". (26.75"ish") What I would like to know is how to go about moving my crossmember back enough to make it work? I also noticed on the frame it looks as if the holes had been punched out from the factory to move the crossmember back 2", I am asuming this is for the A4LD? (29")
Also next I need to know if I could just grab up some drive lines from say, an 88 ranger xl with eather an A4LD or FM146? or would I have no choice but to have my stock rear shortend ect...
I have the money for the adapter and would like to have it ordered this monday when they open. so any advice I could get over the weekend would be nice.
