okay heres the deal, couple months ago my truck over heated so i replaced water pump, thermostat, engine flush, still over heated, saw coolant in oil so thought i better change head gaskets. i broke engine down regasket everything and i ended up buying another head because 2 cylinders where doin 50 psi, now heres my compression test:

cylinder 1- 135
2- 120
3- 125
4- 122
5- 124
6- 130

the first thing i did was compressed the first 2 cylinders and they was at 150, but im guessing the battery was fully charged at the time so that's why im thinking it went down, i watched the gauge and they was not losing air.

Did in-line spark test- all lines are good, tester says check ignition system but i got it to start when 2 cylinders was 50 psi, engine was hard to start and engine shook but it still started.

i did a fuel test and im gettin 52-55 psi

i have replaced spark plugs then gapped, spark plug wires and the battery.
when i took all the plugs all out they all had some gas and alittle oil or carbon, i dont think that would make it where it would not start?

any help at this time would be appreciated!!

Engine does crank, and turns over, tries to start but does not, has spark, fuel, and compression. why wont it start!?:dunno:

Did you mess with the timing when you did the heads?

Idk how I would mess with the timing, I turned the crank when I was torquing rocker arms. How would I see if timing is off if my crank shaft doesn't have numbers or arrows on it

Wouldn't hurt to check electrical timing. That shouldn't be hard with engine reassembled. If mechanical timing off then I'd expect no compression.

No but I can get one, I never used one of them yet. I know I point it at the crank but I don't know how it would work and how it would tell me if timing off or not

1999 has Computer controlled spark timing, you can of course check it, but you can't adjust it.

Make sure the spark plug wires on the Coil Pack are in the correct order.
And that coil pack is plugged in

Cylinders on Ford V6 are numbered this way
3 6
2 5
1 4
Front

Coil pack wires are slightly different
3 4
2 6
1 5
front

The 5 6 4 always gets me, lol
So make sure those wires are in the right order and go to the right cylinder.

3.0l engine should be above 160psi on all cylinders but as long as you didn't remove timing chain and reinstall it I would just assume your pressure gauge was reading low or all spark plugs were not removed for compression test.
Even low the readings are correctly balance, all within 10-15% of each other.
