I have started on it, but I am not finished. So far I just have a few marker lights and the tail/brake/turns on my BII done. You can't really tell the difference in brightness.

I am doing it more for durability/reliability than brightness anyway though. Incandescent bulbs can do funky things when they blow. LEDs shouldn't do the same stuff.

So true with incandescent lights ,they draw a lot from your battery ,causing your alternator to work harder ,creating drag, hence a drop in fuel economy
be it ever so small.

Thanks for the reply.
It seems like we have a lot of lookers and few res ponders on this forum.

One think this forum doesn't lack ,is the smart butts with they er snide remarks. I guess that's the way it is on most forums, regardless.

Hey adsm,

No need to resemble, that comment was, in no way, aimed at you.

There is nothing wrong with you.
It's the (others ) we worry about.

BTW, All my lights will be here in a few days, except the dome light,
I'm thinking about getting one with a on /off switch, maybe I'll go to the bone yard and scavenge around for one.

I will take some pics, if they show a noticeable difference, I will post..

I like the idea for all the lights, except maybe the head lights. My step son changed to led head lights and in the winter they don't create enough heat to melt ice off his head lights.

I haven't done anything with mine yet either, however I do plan to replace the marker, turn signal, tail/brake, backup lights to LED over time. I'm not worried about brightness either, just hate changing bulbs.

I know that wasn't aimed at me. I took the opportunity to make the joke though. Since I do have a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor that doesn't always come well in text things I post are often taken wrong.

I have changed the license plate lights to them.

The rest of them really isn't worth it to me, the things are not cheap and I think I have only ever changed one bulb on the outside, one tail light.

And I like the welcoming warm yellow glow of the dome light. :dntknw:

Yes, the warmth of the incandescent bulbs will melt the ice...so I decided to keep mine the way they were...and even though we may get only a few days a year of freezing rain, road spray will freeze on them...and frozen road spray is never clean like freezing rain...so you will eventually loose lighting and have to get out, bang the lens, and maybe break a few more in the process...

Not worth it...really...

The brake lights are another story as they are reportedly faster to illuminate than the old style and this has been touted as a safety feature...they are not brighter...but can be in numbers...

I've seen some with many more brake lights than a stock vehicle would have and they are definitely easier to see in any light situation...

Then you are buying them in the wrong places. If you go to a store and buy Sylvanias yeah, you are going to pay through the nose.

I picked up 100 194 LEDs for $18 a while back, much cheaper than incandescent . I just got 6 1157s for under $20. A pack of 2 1157s at the local Advance is about $6, so that price is about the same.

An 1157 once every 15-20 years is a lot cheaper than replacing them all at once. :icon_twisted:

True. The BII is getting them as they burn out. I had a tail go a few weeks ago, so those are both LED now (gotta buy 'em in pairs one way or the other). The Ranger is getting all LEDs down at once time because the whole truck is getting rebuilt. Most of those bulbs, while they still light, need replaced due to seperated glass and base though.

I was looking for brighter corner markers/running lights and did not find what I wanted at auto parts stores. The ones at the stores are not any brighter. I ordered online and found some that are brighter, maybe too bright but I am running tinted lenses so they are good.

I do have LED back-up, brakes, and turn signals from Pep Boys. They are a bit brighter. I bought the white ones as they are brighter than the red and amber. The proper colors show with colored lenses. Again my lenses are tinted so I needed more light/lumens to be seen.
