My 93 has been acting up bad, and after pulling codes, replacing sensors, reseting codes, and pulling the same codes with the same issues, I decided to pull the computer just to look at it. After pulling it you could smell the burtness plain as day. My question is, does the numbers have to match exactly? I cant find one with the same last 3 letters. its f47f-12a650-cba. the "cba" is the problem. Can I just get one for a 93 3.0 5sp 4x4, or what? Im lost and really need this truck back up. Thanks for any input.

Do a search on here. I can't remember who; but, someone posted what numbers are important to match and what ones do not matter.

12a650 = Fords part number for ALL engine computers, still used today

f47f
F4 = 1994, F = 199, E = 198, you have a late 1993 model so it has '94 computer
7F = Ranger electronic part

cba = revision number and Ford never published exact parameters for this

There is also a Larger number/letter designation Stamped on that label, same number will be on passenger door jamb and/or in engine bay
That's the one to try and match, but again Ford never published any info on this number.

Larger number seen on label here: http://www.auto-diagnostics.info/ford_eec_iv
D1T3 is the number

Best thing to do is like you said, to find computer from 1993 3.0l manual 4x4 w/EGR if you have one or without EGR if you don't.
I don't think the 4x4 part would matter though, it used a separate module.

Expand search if not found to 1991 to 1994, in 1995 all Rangers got newer EEC-V computers so wouldn't work with your system
