I just need some quick answers. How do I make a 94 t5 fit my 95 2wd step side. Can I put a mustang clutch pedal in and make a cable for it? Or do I have to buy the $500 external clutch slave setup. I can only find things on auto trans and non tremec t5's. Or if someone can post a link I can find all this on that would be great as well. I'm just tired of lurking forums.

Thanks to whoever can help me out.

T5 is a different beast if it were me id go with a ranger pedal assembly and the external slave setup for convenience the main reason we all go 4r70w is for the lack of needing a tune and its all bolt in not to say it cant be done with a t5 there are just simpler options

The only problem with that is, I don't want an automatic hahaha. I have a t5 from a 94 cobra, which leads me to believe it's a tremec t5, but it doesn't say tremec on it, only borg warner. I'm just confused. I have everything else figured out, for some reason I just can't figure out this trans situation.

And what what do you mean by needing a tune? It's going to be a factory motor. No mods exept for the intake and full exhaust.

That assumes you're using an Explorer 5.0 ECU. It never came with a manual...

If you're using a Mustang, or F150 ECU, it's a non-issue. (But you need a distributor as I understand it...)

So the 95 mustang 5.0 ho motor came with the ecu for that motor. And I'm picking up a 94 cobra t5 this weekend. It should be ok if I custom make a bracket to hold the external slave right?

Yes as long as you make brackets to hold the slave ypu should be fine and if ypur using a mustang motor with a manual trans no tune is needed

87-88 Thunderbird turbocoupes used a hydraulic clutch on a t5, that bell is different than all the others. Just might be what you're looking for...

The 94-95 t5 uses the longer input shaft (5/8" longer)... I believe that input shaft will have to be swapped out for the shorter input shaft

Thanks Kunar, I'm pretty much all set up for this conversion. I've made the call, and I'm committed to buying this 94 cobra trans. But if it blows, I'll be looking for that transmission.

But snoranger, I have the bellhousing for it... it shouldn't make a difference right?

If you have the 94-95 bellhousing, it will be fine. Just don't try to use the 94-95 trans with the earlier bellhousing.

One thing that is different with the 94-95 bellhousing is that it is angled downward instead of being horizontal, might cause interference with exhaust or in mounting the slave bracket. All T5's have been Tremec since 84-85 (Tremec bought rights to the BorgWarner. That Cobra trans is one of the strongest T-5's made.
