just curious to know what fellow r.b.v. owners think is the best mod they have done to their trucks. Mine was adding the warn manual hubs,,nite and day compared to the factory autos,,

Yup, I would have to agree with you. My auto hubs let go last winter in an ice storm. Talk about stuck! It's definitely nice to have the reliability of the manual ones. I'd also have to say that putting the lift on my truck has turned out pretty good. I don't do any serious off-roading, but I spend a lot of my time up in Maine and am always checking out new fishing spots or pulling my friends out of the woods. The extra clearance has allowed me to get into some places I never would have gone without the lift.

I actually had pretty good luck with auto hubs. I was just tired of the maintenence it takes to keep them functioning smoothly. I never broke them.

My best mod was the rear locker. Even with 235s on a stock truck I could go 90% of the places I can go now with 31s, 2 lockers and 3x the wheel travel.

Mine is the bucket seats I had in mine. They held me in place the entire time of my roll over sunday morning. If I didn't put them in and kept the bench seat in I would have been killed. They even kept my roof from fully crushing in, as my roof was sitting on my passenger headrest and just above my drivers. Best modification I ever did.

Oh, damn that's a tough one....

Lets see... replacing the stock buckets with the high back explorer buckets
was nice, but only set me back about $50

Replacing the original T-K trans with a mazda trans was also nice.
that was $300

Installing a tilt column?

Installing a limited slip in the original axle?

Installing the factory sunroof?

Replacing the 7.5" rear with an 8.8"?

upgrading to the later (larger) main fuel tank?

Retrofitting factory A/C in?

Regearing to 4.10s?

Converting the truck from 2wd to 4x4?

Using the '97 dual piston brakes?

Installing factory cruise control?

doing the 4.0 swap?

Adding in the second tank for a dual tank system?

It's really hard to say, it more of an evolutionary process rather than
a revolutionary one.....

What will I do next?

probably a front limited slip or locker.
(I already have a D35)

The mod I did was installing aftermarket sway bars. For some reason Ford didn't install them on my model year(90).If I remember correctly 1 1/8 in the front and 7/8 in the back.

Very good question kkjb4x4.0, I'm interested to see what everyone will say.
My favorite thing is probably my solid rear end. If my B2 was my daily driver it would have a locker, but it's not. Therefore I welded the 7.5, and it has defiantly been worth it. IMHO a locker is as big of a step up over a 4x4, as 4x4 is as big of a step up over a 2WD truck (when leaving the pavement)

Duraspark, the bodylift was fun, and my bumper is neat. But everytime I start it and it runs smooth it is great. Granted the 1/4" of slop (and two unknown parts inside scraping on each other) in my stock distributer probably didn't help anything.

Loosing the bald car tires for mud tires would be a close second, the places I can go now are amazing. I am the first in my family to get a set BTW, if that explains my amazement.

Lockers/gears. Without them you aren't really building the whole package.

Mine is the one I'm about to start tonight. Replacing the electronic shift BW1354 with the mechanical shift one.

If I however am not as satisfied with this one, it would be replacing my rear cab brackets with new ones off ebay and body bushings with polyurethane ones.

You're hooking up your stereo to the Y-pipe?

It's not a good idea to post your illegal activities in a public location. It's a Federal crime in the US and Canada to disable a cat. And it really doesn't make any difference to performance unless you screw up. I really hope that's not the BEST you've done, because it isn't very good.

My best mod would have been the limited slip 7.5 put into the Bronco II. If I can ever find the time, I'll do the same to the Exploder. Probably with a gear swap to 3.73 or 4.11.
