Running stock intake with new wix filter (had another brand too same thing)and get very slight fine dust buildup on the throttle body that makes the butterfly stick upon accelerating. On a day triP in the desert and a few hundred miles.

Would it be binifisial to go with a "cold air" intake or try a k&n in my box

3.0 with headers, high flow cats, exhaust.

You already have a CAI. The K&Ns let more dirt in than paper filters.

The better the filtration the more restrictive the flow, so surface area is used to achieve both flow and filtration, so it's a balance.

I'd check for leaks in the filter box. Very fine dust that can get past the filter is just something you may have to live with if you want to drive in the desert.

Other than that you may need a special desert filter, such as I see used in Australia.
