I just bought a 2000 ranger 4x4 with a 3.0 according to the vin letter V i can run flex fuel. question is will i have to empty the gas tank of the regular fuel before i put flex fuel in or can i just start adding the flex fuel. will i need new fuel filters or just add and go..

With the V code 3.0L you can go either way. Maybe run the tank down then E85 to yer hearts content. You may even be able to mix but we don't have E85 anywhere near us so I'm not sure on that.

Fuel filter won't matter but if you don't know how old it is I'd change it for good maintenance.

You can put anything from E0 up to E85 in the tank at any time, as long as it isn't already full. The computer will figure it out then.

and don't screw up the Flex Fuel module. they are a dealer only item, and cost over $600 for the part
FYI, with the alcohol laced fuel your mpg will be somewhere between lousy and terrible.
