It's written into the Nevada state constitution that the state gives up all rights to public lands, that was 1864. All the lands since then unless sold or transferred to privite persons are federal lands. There have been several laws/acts passed thru congress that have updated the laws. Last big one was the Taylor Act of 1934 that consolidated several overlapping federal agencies into the BLM. Bundy never has owned the land but has used it, and family for many years. What Bundy is trying to do is ignore the federal government in favor of states rights, yes his principles. He is 20 years behind in his rent to the government that he had paid up till 1993. It's been battled in court for 20 years and he has lost every time. I don't how he is not guilty, maybe I'm missing something. I looked at our patent on the farm in SD issued in 1912 and it's from the federal government, not the state, signed by Woodrow Wilson. If Bundy had something like that, he would be free and clear.Sounds like you might be siding with government and NOT knowing ALL the facts. All the "facts" i'm hearing are from the media, maybe your sources are more factual,i believe this is another of the government saying one thing and doing another. I would bet if you ask "any" native american he's heard of this bait and switch. I'm not taking sides but I would imagine Mr. Bundy has a heck of a lot to lose than to to fight over something that he's sure to lose. I'm pretty sure to him this is principle., I do believe he's being observed as a "patriot" to his followers.
Lastly, what about the judicial system? Haven't heard anything about him going into a court of law and refusing to follow a court order. Pretty heavy handed by the government and the media blaming him solely for this defiance.
