Pulling out an intake manifold on a 2000 ford Ranger 3L

Hey y'all, I couldn't find a service manual detailing the process on pulling an intake manifold for a 3L in a 2000 ford ranger.

Basically im helping my friend with her car in another state--she's gonna need to go to a junkyard and pull the upper and lower manifold out of a ranger herself so her mechanic can install them on her car (these parts are discontinued).

Anyone have the full service manual detailing the process or know the steps/a video outlining how to pull out the upper and lower intake manifold?

I googled around already, checked a few manuals, and youtube, but didn't find anything definitive.

Don't know what to say. I've never seen that procedure. Maybe I can make one up and others can fill in what I miss or get wrong.

Tools;
3/8" drive metric socket set with deep well sockets from 8mm up to at least 13mm (some fasteners are long studs with nuts)
Flat blade screwdriver
Small prybar
Maybe pliers- regular and needlenose
Optional medium sized dead-blow hammer
Rags
Disposable rubber gloves.

1. Loosen hose clamp and disconnect intake plenum from throttle body.
2. Disconnect electrical connectors from throttle body, IAC valve and any others
2A. File torn fingernail(s) smooth
3. Disconnect all vacuum lines.
3A. Wipe off dirty hands
4. If you don't want the throttle body and IAC, remove them.
5. Unbolt EGR connection
6. Remove bolts (6? Maybe 8) holding upper intake on and remove upper intake. Might need pry bar or screwdriver to break the gasket seal.
6A. Ok. Go ask that Mexican guy over there to help break the bolts loose
7. Remove bolts holding lower intake on and pry/lift lower intake off.
7A. Wipe off hands again
8. Pay for parts and go home.
9. Drive back to junk yard and (hopefully) retrieve forgotten tools.

I know this post is a few weeks old, but in case it hasn’t been pulled yet (and for those searching in the future), be advised one of the push rods on the passenger side runs up through the lower plenum casting on the intake so that push rod needs to be removed. To access the push rod that valve cover needs to come off but to pull the lower plenum on the 3.0 the valve covers have to come off anyway because part of the mating surface for them is the lower plenum much like an old FE v8. My truck is a 94’ so I also had to pull the distributor for everything to have room to come off, shouldn’t be an issue on a 2000 as they did away with the distributor by then if I remember correctly.

Yup. Where the distributor used to be, there is now a very low profile cam position sensor.

Glad someone remembered the pushrod that needs to e removed. I was going to add that.

I found out the hard way when I went to pull the lower plenum then realized some Ford engineer really thought that was a good idea.
