Ok so i wasnt sure how to search this. Question is about front driveshaft. The dana 35 swap requires the front driveshaft to be shortened 2", but the m50d requires it to be lengthened 2" (as far as ive read). Is it as simple as if i swapped them both in at the same time will the stock front driveshaft work as is? Or do i still need to make changes to the front driveshaft.
Thanks

Your results may vary. And trans length will depend on what transmission you have now. A4LD is the same length as the M5OD.

Also watch upward growth too. the D35 has a bigger ring gear so the pinion sits higher and can push your driveshaft into your exhaust (ask me how I know)

If you swap in a matched set...it's matched.

There was a time I knew every shaft combination....but these days I can't remember where I park half the time.

I don't have the chart anymore.

Swap it in and check.

Problem there....the t case needs matched too.

There's three types of setups. Stx..1210 DC joint.... case slip....1310 DC joint.

1354 and 1350 case not always a match on front output.

So matched is all the way matched.

Worse case i could have a driveshaft made to work between the 2

Yeah, the 1350 likely has the slip spline front output with the internal U joint since that was most common unless it's an STX like Bobby said...

Me when I swapped to a D35 I already had a M5OD so I just found a manual 1354 and front shaft and swapped the whole thing in... it's all matched... in my case the stock rear shaft with dual cardan fit when I put a 6" lift in and the Explorer 8.8...

I could never keep all the combo's straight on the first gens... again I kinda ignored those since I had the more universal M5OD setup...
