Swapping an '88 Bronco II with 2.9 A4LD to 4.0 and M5OD/M5R1 out of a '94 Ranger. What clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and line do I need? Is the firewall pre-punched or otherwise marked for where the master should go like full size trucks are? Do I need to make a firewall reinforcement plate like the full size trucks need to spread the load and avoid cracking the firewall? Anyone make these plates if so? Trying to get parts in order as I get closer to the swap.

Use all the parts from the 94 ranger firewall is good to go. Clutch master will bolt onto Bronco II. I’m unsure if the clutch and brake peddle are able to swap over.

Changed several over like you . Everything is on the firewall. I used the 91 Ford ranger 4.0 clutch hydraulic system . The 88 has a weird pedal set up . You can find it but expensive. I used one from a 89 Bronco 11. A lot of customizing on the clutch pedal . Master cylinder bolts on , resovoir goes where you have a plate on yours . I have or take care of 4 , 3 BR11s and a 90 Ranger , 3 have been converted to 5 speeds . Had trouble with one line , rub the body . Switched to the new flexible braided line . Not cheap $80. You need the engine plate also , I also buy a new positive battery cable for the 4.0 . No more starter problems . It also takes a manual trans starter . That’s about it . You will need to hook two wires together to send it to the clutch switch and put a plug on 2 others for the back up lights . Don’t recall the colors at this time .

Dunk67,
Are you interested in selling the fill tube and dipstick off your old A4LD?

Just hunt down a petal assembly from a 88 and you will swap the hole thing. The fire wall has a bolt on cover on it for the the master cylinder. unbolt the cover and install your master. I would suggest you get a master cylinder and slave combo that are pre bleed and are ready to be bolted on. It comes with the line and everything. Just bolt it on. I just swapped my 89. But the 89 to 94 are the same. The first gens have a different petal assembly on it.
