That could do it, definitely the easiest thing to do... I should get a new sensor
Mine was MOODY, in the humid valley usually the speedo would work especially in the winter and spring but if I drove to the high desert or just in general for about 2 hours the speedo would start wagging then stop working so my symptoms are a bit different, the dielectric grease seems to have fixed mine up so far...
