That could do it, definitely the easiest thing to do... I should get a new sensor :)

Mine was MOODY, in the humid valley usually the speedo would work especially in the winter and spring but if I drove to the high desert or just in general for about 2 hours the speedo would start wagging then stop working so my symptoms are a bit different, the dielectric grease seems to have fixed mine up so far...

My speedo would twitch a little...but not bad.

Youre lucky though you got a manual...mine was undriveable lol

In case your speed sensor doesn't fix the whole problem I figured I'd report back on my F350 since I drove it for the first time since July yesterday, speedo worked right off the bat and even had cruise control when the idiots weren't slowing me down... (had the camper on the back, that's apparently an indication that you have to pass, cut off, then slow down from what I gather, even worse when towing with a camper).

Like I mentioned, all I did was put some dielectric grease in the speedo connector... at one point I'd looked into it pretty good and it was either the speed sensor or the connection at the speedo...

Mine seems to be A ok now. The wireing underneath looked basically new yet.....i was surprised. Which is more then i can sar for the spring hangers.

Kinda freaked me out seeing how bad the two on the driverside are (pass side is fine) when i thought about all the weight ive carried numerous times past 6 months or so with it.

Glad I don't have that problem, but one of the front shackle bolts on mine is seized about 2 threads from touching the shackle, I've thought about fixing it but all the leaf spring bushings are shot up there too and I'm not up to tackling that yet, it's been like that for 30k miles it can wait a bit longer...
