So I have an 86 ranger standard cab 2wd 2.9. I recently lowered it using a 3/5 kit and air shocks for the rear. So then I went and bought brand new chrome american racing wheels 18x7 with +6mm offset. Well here comes the fun. I knew it would be close on the front for rubbing the wheelwell. Tires are 225/45/18. All was well accept....... I could visually see the negative camber. It gets worse. If I add the needed positive camber it will rub. So here I am looking for options. An ideal option would be to somehow bring the entire front wheel assemblies inward. Is this possible? These wheels were really expensive and I love them. I hate to have to sell them for wheels with more offset. Am I out of luck? Love too hear some thoughts. Than you

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I guess you could fab up different axle beam mounting brackets to bring the beams in. Then fab appropriate brackets to get the radiusvarms where they need to be.

Or, cut a section out of the axle beams to shorten them and weld them back together.

The problem is, that if you bring the wheels in closer, you may have issues with tires rubbing the frame and/or radius arms.

Did you use a commercially available lowering kit or fab your own? Pictures would be great.

With the truck in it's current config have you had it up on an alignment rack to know what the actual camber setting is?
If you're dead set on keeping these wheels & tires you have the option of taking the fabrication route to reshape the front splash shields to accommodate these wheels/tires.

I take it as it sits the front fenders are now down over the sides of the tires?

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Could you roll/pull the fenders? Where exactly is it rubbing?
