It was like that when I found it.

He wants more for it than I paid for my 2011 three years ago. Keep in mind that truck is over 35 years old now.

That truck has less than 70,000 miles (assuming that's correct and the odometer didn't roll over so it's actually 160,000+). That works out to just 2,000 miles per year, which means lots of sitting and short trips, not good. On a vehicle that old, low mileage can be a minus, not a plus.

I don't know...
New motor
New trans
New brakes
Looks like new interior
Looks like new paint.
Doesn't seem too unreasonable price. Same work on a mustang and it would be sold already.
The "autocheck score" is whacked!

I'd rather do powertrain swaps than bodywork...

That said; kind of an odd two tone, aftermarket chrome rear bumper and the seats have been recovered... proceed with caution. Could be a 270k bondo buggy...

Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
I don't know either. It is a pretty truck, though.

Not enough pictures, especially for the asking price. No engine bay or underneath pics.

No mention of receipts, although it has a lot "rebuilt" and "new" parts.

The odometer has rolled. It had 86,925 when registered in 2001 and then 10,000/exempt when registered in 2008 (look in the "detailed vehicle history" report).

The interior does look very nice; but I think it's a Coverlay dash (hard to tell) and I think the seat is reupholstered (albeit nicely). I don't think the A-pillar trim screws were black oxide finish, so it looks like they were painted in place. Door cards, headliner, visors and carpet are exceptional, but are they some of the "new" parts? The steering cover hides the rim, the shifter console looks tired, but the key tell for me is the scuffed paint and bent aluminum trim of the driver's door sill.

Paint and body are exceptional, and looks recent, but I don't understand why the tailgate is missing the burgundy color.

Maybe I'm too cynical and critical in my old age, but I'd be going over it with a fine-tooth comb if I was paying that amount.

It is a pretty truck, though.

Now that you mention it, I think the door cards have been recovered too, probably when they did the seat.

Very well could have a dash cover too.

I have never seen painted a pillar screws, rust/black oxide usually.

"The devil is in the details."

Can you imagine working at Ford, back in the day, as a "Pillar Screw Painter"?

Would they have had Professional Pillar Screw Painters? Apprentice Pillar Screw Painters and Journeyman Pillar Screw Painters? And would they have had a Pillar Screw Paint Inspector?

Inquiring minds want to know. :icon_confused:

Another example of a "detail devil".

The asking BIN (buy it now) is $16,800; the opening auction bid is $14,000.

The interior is really nice. The paint job and body are really nice. And then there's this:

scuff plate.JPG

A set of new aluminum step trims aren't that expensive, and the driver's sill paint could easily have been touched up, in with the paint job.

Yes, it's a small detail, but once you see something like this, then the rest of it doesn't look as good as it did in the first impression.
