I have a 97 ranger with a 2.3 and the DIS (distribuorless Ignition System). I want to hook up a tach to it but I don't know how, is there a kosher way of doing it that won't mess with the computer or any of that garbage?

I have heard of that before, I am just curious if there is anyway to do it off ofthe signal from the cyl. 1 injector wiring or maybe the coil pack wiring itself

i'm a little confused, you tried to run it off of the computer and it didnt work? or you tried it off of the injector or coil pack?

Yo,
Before i read the article here on TRS, the instructions that came with the tach suggested i use the wire that came off the coil pack. (They obiously did not design it for a ranger.) That diddnt work so i found on the site that Ford already wired for a tach, even if your model diddnt come with one. So i found the wire they talked about (The tan one i believe). And it worked just fine.
