Custom Electronic Compass

Anyone ever buy one? Or see one?

I'd like to find something like and eletronic compass or temp display or something that will fit in the stock location for the touch-drive buttons on a 1st gen, now that my buttons are useless.

Can't seem to find anything that looks like it will work though.

I have a lectronic compass in my zj. It's about 2 by 2 and attached to a base about the same size by a hinge. Don't recall what the space looks like for the touch-drive buttons on a 1st gen.

I'm sure you can make one, I've seen stuff like that on instructables. But how big is the area you want to mount it on.

The area I'm interested in is about 1.5" square. Maybe 2" square. I don't care if the actual compass unit is remote mounted and it's just a display in the button area. I can wire that easy enough. I just want to have something useful in that space now that I have a manual transfer case.

This looks cool and you can splice it into the cigarette lighter 5v since USB is also 5v

I'd probably sacrifice a USB female cable so that you can still plug it in, in case they offer updates or something.
