Does anyone know if a 91 2wd explorer a4ld trans is the same as a
90 2wd a4ld ranger? both 4.0 are the electrical, and bell housing the same? I know there is a small window for this trans and engine before they changed trannys. any help would be great. thanks :dntknw:

Long answer, no! They did not put a 4.0 in a '90 Ranger.
To make a long story short, They are the same thing. If they plug in and the cables connect in the same place, You're good.

Um... Mutant pony... hate burst your bubble.... but I own a 90 Ranger with a 4.0. In 90, the Ranger with the 4.0 only came as an auto. SND, the trans in question will fit without any problems.

yup. Sure. I believe you.

Yes they did install 4.0L's in 1990.

I owned a '90 and the "owners manual" had the 4.0L engine in it and the 4.0L in my '92 came from a '90 doner Ranger.

thanks for the info, i thought it would but wasnt sure. I'll go and pick it up.
