Bad news. drove the truck to work today, but when i went to start it to go home it was a no go :dunno: it turned over no problem, and it had a good spark at the plugs. i tried some starter fluid and it would fire up just for a second then die. i figure it must be getting no fuel. i have not done any work on the fuel system on this truck so im a bit new. i do know there is two fuel pumps, one in the tank, one on the rail, and a in line fuel filter. what should i start replacing? what usually goes bad first? is there a trick/tool to get the fuel line apart from the filter and pump? thanks for any help. 88 2.9 by the way.

It could be the fuel pump relay or the inertia switch. The inertia switch is under the carpet on the passenger floor board check clean the connections and put a jumper wire between the two wires and see if the fuel pump cycles when you turn the key on. You want to go through the wiring first before you replace any parts. The fuel pump relay being the cheapest. You can bypass the computer using the EEC-IV connector find the fuel pump terminal and short it to ground. If that works then it is in the computer or ground wires to the computer.
