I hate to say it, but you are beyond what most people on this forum do, therefore, there will be not a lot of replies , BUT, lets see if I can help.

I will need the EXACT information:

the 89 is it also a B2 ?

what was (or is) the size of the 85 ? (this is the truck, right ??)

What was the size of the engine in the 89 ? (this is the donor, right ??)

are BOTH MAP or MAF type air sensors, or are they mixed ?

Do you know the 8th digit of the VIN code for each truck ????

(the 8th denotes engine type, and air sensor)

Do you have the EEC box (Computer) for the engine that is in this body ?? (assuming the 85).

get on ebay and get an EVTM for both vehicles. sit down in front of the computer or even just with a pen and paper. make a chart comparing wire colors, connector numbers & locations, ground locations and anything else youre having trouble with. i put a 4.0 in my 1st gen and kept my original dash using this type of wiring method. i hate wiring but this is the way to do it.

or do this if you can get it for free. print it out so you can lay stuff out at the table. youll spend a lot of time flipping back and forth between one and the other.

So I like the way you are pointing me. going this route where would you put the two harness together at? the firewall? or what im hoping and just put the end connecters for the 89 dash on to the 85 dash harness? Sorry for so many ???
also on the free web page link for the evtm all i can find is the basic wiring diagram that my haynes has. am i looking in the wrong place?

Word of warning.... if doing the wires from the 85's harness into the 89's dash connector, once you open them up, ALL the pins come out at once !

Label EACH wire with a number or letter (even masking tape 6-10 inches from the pin) black felt marker, heck even do the old wires from the 89's plug, that way you will still have the color code from the 89, if needed later in this process.

wherever you want, wherever it makes sense. hopefully that question will answer its self when you get to that point. there's nothing saying youll be able to make all of your splices in one place, you might have a few here, a few there... whatever it takes.

a31 is right about the tape & marker tags. label stuff to coincide with the info you get from your evtm. i think they will have wire numbers, i know for sure they will have connector numbers as well. if the online stuff isnt cutting it, invest in the ford literature. its the stuff the company prints for the dealers, its worth it. i think you can usually get an evtm for about $15
