hinky fuel pump

is there an oil pressure switch to turn on the relay? i bought a car that had the same symtoms for 100 bucks and all that was wrong was the oil pressure sw a 10 min job then sold car for 1000 bucks that was before i got married.:yahoo:

I have a '99 Cavalier (fiancee's car) that wouldn't start; come to find out that the power wire for the fuel pump, in the connector, was both corroded and burned up.

At first, we were looking at spending over $800 for a new ignition switch and anti-theft chip (in the switch).

By the way, have you checked your fuel pressure regulator? If it was bad, then no matter what you do electrically, the problem still wouldn't be resolved. Sounds to me like a bad filter or a bad regulator. Also, check out the "sock" over the fuel pump (not sure where); from what I've heard, those are known to go bad, and will cause sporatic pressure symptoms. Lastly, check the fuel pump sending unit. Sometimes, when that goes bad, it sends faulty signals to the ECU, which in turn, doesn't send the proper signals to the fuel injectors or the proper signals to the ignition module(s).
