Found me a new car....

i am sure since i am not home very often....he will take good care of it for me.... ya know...since it is an old man car and all...he would not want to row through the six speed manual in such a dad mobile....

I have to admit that that particular Caddy design is pretty sweet -- in an old man kinda way...

I only recently learned of the 2014-2017 Chevrolet SS. I would love of those...might even let the hotrod go and grab one ..l

I would still rather have an old muscle car. I guess I'm just sentimental.

I like the raw mechanical feeling of the old stuff. im sure that caddy is fast but it would still be a subdued experience.

i have worked on the earlier ctsv models that my lawyer friend owned years ago....put a high end cooling and supercharger package on it.....then heads and cam...injectors and fuel system a bit later. a shop in texas did the exhaust in the end it was putting down just over 800 hp at the tire.

working on it sucked. but it was new....well two weeks old the first time we tore into it... so very easy. mostly because i had to be clinical to keep from scratching stuff ect... he had two lifts at his house and would buy any tool needed. just not very good at using tools or picking up heavy shit..

he offered to sell it to me when he was ready to move to the next thing.... for a ridiculously cheap price. but i was having severe mobility issues at that time and not in a good place financially.... i was tempted to buy it and make 20g on it. but just couldnt do it.

that car bone stock was anything but subdued.

and at the end was pure animal. and had no issue backing me down when pushing it.

this current one i suspect will be the same....at least with a manual trans.

Maybe isolated is a better term?

Ive drove and ridden in a few modern performance vehicles (athough not a cts v, but some challengers, a few vettes, and even a viper years ago) and besides the viper (to an extent) it still didnt give that "oh shit im going to be hauling ass in this thing" type feeling.

You felt in control...rather then at its mercy. If that makes sense

modern challengers are cows. basically a benz platform. but i do love them dearly     1000 plus rwhp is radical...and scary. those cars are uncomfortable to drive at that power level... while i do admire and respect the gen 3 hemi i do not care to work on it as opposed to a 340. same with the ford cammers.

real vipers (pre traction control)....are frightening. stock if your a decent driver they are not horrible but will whip your ass out at say a place like michigan international....or the airport at grosse isle....young bobs thing that identifies as a ranger (350 Z with a V8 swap) is like that......SIMPLY FAWGIN BRUTAL.

.but... if you dont drive high power vehicles you are foooked.....a mere 400 hp viper is a death trap.....if you are used to driving vettes.....you need some seat time in the viper before you push it.....vettes are way easier to drive.

especially twin turbo vipers without upgraded suspension.

in that regard the ctsv stock is not scary. i have had a 70 Cuda' and a 73 challenger. my cuda' for the time was a monster. but nothing compared to the ctsv i would rather be seen in a cuda' but the ctsV just drives awesome.

but dont lose sight of this..because i should have made this the point...

...Neil had over 140k into that ctsV before he was done playing with it including purchase price...i did an equalized value of about 15-20 grand in labor over that time period for the things i helped with.....that is in 2010-2015 dollars so....looking at it like that ...it makes this new one reasonable.

more importantly...if you like the old chevelles and pontiacs and fords...that are all dolled up with coyote and modern hemi and LS engines and modern suspension.....paying 100k for one of those is a bargain too.

problem is...paying 100k for a real Cuda'.... i would not want to drive it.

moreso....if you gifted me a real Cuda'..... i would still not want to drive it.

but i would whoop the fawk out of a ctsV and not feel bad about it.....and could care less for parking lot rash..... it would look like my ranger in no time.

yeah.....i am an idiot like that.

'

I've been around enough Caddy's... I have a hard time getting excited for one.

Well.....I walked in to summit just now.
..how bout this gorilla....
