Yet another t-case question

The '01 sport had a manual t-case?

oh no, you just said 1354, didnt specify m or e. thats a hard question, cuz some 2000 and up rangers had them, but its rare, and of course some 90's rangers had them too, but i have a 94 and have an e

Ok...I just found a 1350 out of a late 80's ranger. The wrecker is willing to go $250 for it. Would that still bolt up to a 5r55e? If not, is there an adapter plate available?

1350, 1354, and 4405 are all interchangeable and share the same bolt pattern...

wow that seems steep for the 1350! what are you putting this into? cuz if your putting it into your explorer, your going to need the old style front driveshaft to make it work.

yours has a cv joint with a bulb style yoke at the tcase

the older tcases like that and the early to mid 90's rangers have a double cardan joint

Yeah...I figured as much. I should probably go out 'n measure that shaft :icon_idea:

Yeah I get what you're saying...would the old style shaft be the same length as the one I have? If not, I'll need to measure it for fitment. That's what I was getting at.

is the 1350 as strong as the 1354, i'm looking for a manual shift one and i can't find the 54m anywhere... i have both driveshafts b/c i did the swap on my b2 and used the 54 but i still have the 50, but they both are electric

if you get one out of an explorer with a dana 35 then yes, if you get one out of a ranger, i'm not sure so 91-94 explorer t-case and driveshaft will work

not that i know of no, but thats not confirmed. it may only be the slip yoke on the 1350 that makes it less desirable

Any front drive shaft from a D-35 vehicle should work for length. The M5OD, A4LD, and 4R/5R series transmissions are all the same length.

The gear sets inside the 1354 are different than the 1350. They produce the same underdrive ratio but the physical configuration of the 1354's gears makes them stronger.

Ok then...let me throw this in the conversation. How much abuse can a 1350 stand up to before I have to bury it? What size tire is recommended? I'm not going overly big on tires for a while though...keeping them stock size 'till I get my 4" lift

what t-case do you have now? the 4405? are you dead set on a manual 1354? i would assume your 4405 is on it way out so your looking for a strong replacement right? i think that the price the junk yard gave you for that 1350 is more then you can find a 1354m for if you hunt around. what area are you from?
