Event pics from yesterday. Stock '03 Ranger, 3.0/5 speed/3.73 stock except for the 245/45/17's. The ABS is a hinderance, but it can be raced. I was able to outrun a 170hp XRS Corolla, a Mustang GT, two RX-7's, a yaris (no surprise there), and an FSP MG. Of course, I'm an experienced autocrosser, but 145ish hp can only carry the hefty Ranger so fast.

sweet. I've wanted to autocross my trucks. The steering is all funky on my longbed now so I'm weary, but it'll be fixed eventually. THe ex-cab I have no idea where it would class because its lowered, aftermarket swaybars, shocks, and 17s.

It looks like fun, but I don't think my truck is quite set up for that kind of action. :fie:

We went to an auto-x this weekend aswell. I run my Beretta GTZ in DSP. I never see trucks in our region. What class do they put rangers in?

Are those mustang wheels?
Been REALLY thinking about setting up my Mazda B300 for autocross but not alot of experience here in San Diego with trucks in autocross. I run a totally FSP prepped '78 Corolla and do pretty well (always loved the underdog cars...) but the old 'rolla is showing it's age more and more...

Wondering what can be done to my '05 mazda to get it set up... class doesn't matter as I'd be running for fun - but most any 'stang wheels fit, right?

And what do you use for lowering - on my 'rolla I used lowering springs, but I know the truck is different.

Thanks...

Rolly, my 03 ranger is stock less the Mustang wheels.

1. See the mustang wheel topic in wheels adn tires forum for best fitments.
2. Contact ZMan to get some idea on suspension stuffs.
3. I ran a couple of AE86 Corollas adn found them to be too underpowered for my needs as I always end up in SM... hehe.

So I'm doing some research right now but thought I'd through the question out there ...
My truck has 15x8 wheels on right now (mounted with offroad 30x9.50x15 tires), but I'm looking to lower the truck a little and mount the widest street tires I can fit under the truck.

Here are the wheels specs:
Eagle Alloys 057 Series
15x8, -30mm Offset, 3.25" backspacing... 23lbs.

I'm told I can mount 275-50-15s under there, but not sure if they'll rub... any ideas? What would be a good tire size for these wheels?

Thanks.

rolly

You'll be STU for sure with an 8" wheel. You know STU is a brutal class, right? You get to fight against modded STi subbies and SRT's. You're better off with a 7.5" / 245mm wheel/tire and fighting in STX. You still have to overcome the body on frame top heavy-ness and lack of HP/WT ratio.

I'm not to concerned about the class right now... I'm gonna use the wheels I have now since I don't wanna pay for new wheels and tires if it turns I'm a horrible truck driver and have more fun in the 'rolla. Plus the truck is a little raised right now w/ tall tires and I really want to just set it up lower so it handles a LOT better (and still use it for random autocross runs...).

Anyway, thanks for the advice... not sure when the next event is here in San Diego, but hopefully I'll have some new tires and have the lift kit removed by then... now to figure out how to lower the truck even more... front lowering springs, but how do you lower leaf springs??? And where can I find a rear sway bar?

So many questions... ;)

Wow, look at you. All along I thought you were just a long-haired computer geek.:haha:

Brian,
I cut it all off 4 weeks ago. Now I'm all professional looking and stuff.

Rolly,
axle flip with a different shackle in the rear for a 3" drop.
