just wondering how a smittybilt XRC8 with a snatch block would work on my 79 bronco? these are heavy trucks so im not sure if ill be wasting my time with the xrc8 but its all ill be able to afford. unless i find a good used one elsewhere. thanks

id probably go with a 10 if it were me

yes but i cant afford a 10, actually i cant even afford an 8 but im sure i can save up enough over the winter/christmas

id like to take a 10hp briggs and stratton motor and make my own winch, that would be bad ass lol

I have a 9,000 lb one for the ranger. I have the portable winch mount so I can use it on the front receiver or the back receiver. 10,000 would be the best for that heavy 79. I had a 76 Bronco that the 8,000 would worked fine with, but the later heavier Broncos are just that....heavier!!!!!

I would go bigger than the 8K. Why waste the money one something that might barely do the job. I have brought my M8000 Warn almost to a stall when stuck in the mud. I wouldnt want to try that again with a heavier rig.

I know you mentioned a snatch block also, but I wouldnt want to rely on having to use a snatch block every time. Sometimes you need all 100ft of cable to get ahold of something.

your right guys. im gonna keep saving up, maybe sometime ill be able to afford a 10 or 12k

dont even think about it. that thing is a mess, and would be super awkward to mount.

my buddy has one on his 86 blazer on 38s and it does the job pretty good on his rig

Those are neat, supposedly they are made to fit between the frame rails of a 73-87 Chevy pickup and then a fairlead is mounted to the bumper. I wouldn't do it in your Bronco though, and the price seems pretty high, and good luck finding parts because those have not been made in a long time.

I think the XRC8 would work for you. Just snatch block as much as possible. We use an 8000lb Warn on my buddy's car trailer all the time, and have even pulled a crew cab F350 with no problems. I'd probably rather save up and get something bigger, though.

thanks man. i agree that price is a little high, but if i can get it for 150 i deffinetly will. and with the bumper im putting on the bronco, she wont have any trouble fitting that winch in there.

pulling an f350 up onto a car trailer and pulling out a bronco axle deep in mud are two way different things. seriously, just save up the money and buy a proper winch.
