without drive shaft or crossmember

iv allmost got the transmission bolted back up for the second time now in a row.

Can i start this truck up without shaft/crossmember and top two bellbolts with tail supported by jack and let it idle in park until tranny heats without messing up something.. Im not so sure its not gonna leak just the same as the first attempt.. If it does ill have to immediately start taking it back apart.
 
Without the shaft in, the fluid will pour out at the rear seal.
 
I would have more than 2 bell bolts in too. At least 4 of them.
