I'm swapping in a 4.0 ohv out of a 1994 ranger into my 1997 2.3 ranger. I'm having trouble understanding what wires I need to hook up on the 4.0 harness to work with the '97's body harness. If someone has a diagram or something that's great, of not advice is good too. So far I have my engine harness on the engine in the truck, and I have the 94 body harness striped down, removed headlights, blinkers, fog lights, Horn, non engine stuff. And I removed the fuse box. I have the connector off of my 97's 2.3 engine harness where it connects to the body harness. I'm looking to splice that connector into the 4.0 harness to retain the factory 97 body harness.

The easiest way to do this would be to find a 97 4.0 engine harness and computer. Then everything could be like it came from the factory.

It sounds like you're attempting to effectively make the 94 engine run standalone. In that case you should only have few wires left of the 94 harness.

I used a 91 myself it should be similar. See this post. I know it says 88-92. It should still just be a couple constant power wires, a couple switched power wires, and the clutch switch wiring.

yeah thats basically what i'm trying to do is a standalone. thx
