Don't know where else to post this topic.

My '93 Ranger windshield wiper linkage is beginning to squeak when I run the wipers. The Haynes book doesn't deal with how to lube the moving parts. Does anyone have advise for this? That area looks inaccessible.

thx!

I have never dealt with anything like this but I'm interested if somebody knows.

My 89 started making noise periodically, but I wouldn't call it squeaking. It was more like rattling grinding. Very loud inside the cabin.

I removed the cover from the gearbox next to the motor and installed more grease, and sprayed what linkage I could with WD-40. The noise didn't disappear right away, but it did decrease in frequency of occurrence, and hasn't returned for a at least a year now.

Just an update--that noise occurred again last week, but only briefly and not as bad. So that grease seemingly has helped. I would note though that the truck has also been living in a garage the last three years, so maybe that has been the cure.

thanks for updating this too.

my setup is close to a million miles and the passenger side bushing and retainer wore right off the shaft....:icon_rofl:

maybe i should have tried to lube it over the last 20 years:D
