Truck just quit on me this morning. Ran through the basic troubleshooting. I have good spark on all 4 cylinders and good fuel pressure. Timing is right. However I found that unplugging any one of the injectors it will fire. It doesn’t run well but it runs. If i plug it back in it dies and won’t start back up. Any ideas?

One or more of them is dumping fuel. Pull them, hook them to a 9v, use tubing to adapt a spray can of carb and choke cleaner to the injector to form a seal, and spray while opening and osing injector with voltage.

If it doesn't work, report back 👍🏿

Or get on a site @Cees Klumper mentioned the other day. Cheapest rebuilt injectors I've ever seen.

Your truck is probably old AF. Be nice to it. Get it injectors.

Given that the injectors all have 12v on one conductor, and are supplied with a ground from the computer to open the pintle, and adding a 4th injector... it is possible that the driver source has limited conduction, and thus cannot supply all 4 injectors( all have some poor conduction to ground that is too much leakage?)
I would check at rest voltage on the injectors. If the computer went bad, it could allow conduction, and open an injector, dumping fuel into the intake.
I do not remember if an 88 has paired injectors or is SEFI. If paired, 1&4 will squirt at the same time, if SEFI, the injectors will fire in firing order 1-3-4-2, one at a time. Maybe you should borrow a set of NOID lights from an auto parts store that lends.

"Batch" injection (pairs) on ALL 2.3's until the EEC-V '95+ Ranger....
