has anybody had to use a pusher fan on the front of the rad because there wasnt enough space if so how is the e fan with cooling your motor because i have no room and ran out of ideas of wat to do thanks

Can't see why you even need a fan in Ontario. Mine virtually never comes on here in winter.

if you get one that has enough CFM... they are all rated.

well it gets pretty warm here lol wat cfm should i look at gettin
thanks

at least a 1000, but it depends on what core radiator you got... I'd recommend calling the manufacturer of the fans with the size of the engine and how many cores are in the radiator... it doesn't matter which vehicle it's in.

they'll tell you exactly what you need.

i have a rad from a 4.0l explorer is that also good enough or do i need to get a different one

I don't know too much about 4.0l as I'm a first gen'er... the 2.9l radiator has a two core... I'd assume your 4.0l uses a better radiator than mine... you can check to see how many cores are in it... just keep in mind that 302 makes more heat, so skimping on the cooling is a bad idea...fan or no fan you need a large enough radiator to cool enough fluid.

Some people are running the 2 row Explorer radiator. I am going to try it since I upgraded my 2.9L with it a long time ago.

How much room do you have to work with? Did you do any mods to the core support? You can tuck the radiator in pretty far to gain more clearance. I have a little more than 3" from the front of the water pump to the radiator using AA plates. I cut out the bottom and made a new base of the radiator with 3" angle iron that bolts to the frame in factory holes. Ground out a small section to sneak the radiator cap under there.

Also, there is a member on here (Iron Ranger) that's using a very slim fan that's 2 5/8". http://therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27833&page=2

Did you do anything with the core support though? There was actually a thread on that subject lying around here somewhere... What motor mounts are you using? I thought I had a pic of what I ended up doing, but I cannot find it.

im gona try a rad that is 2 cores that is a 1 and a half thick by 30 by 11 and a half if it all works out i should be able to run my mechanicle fan

Well of course we don't need cooling fans up here. After all we live in igloos, and drive dog sleds most of the time anyway. Except for 2 weeks in mid summer when there isn't enough snow.

Back on topic. LOL
You could use a rad from a V8 Exploder. That would ensure enough cooling. As for cfm on a fan I'd say minimum of 2800cfm. My old e-fan on a 3.0 with a 4.0 auto Exploder rad was a 2800cfm. It hardly came on even with the winter cover on and fully closed in late spring.
