Hey guys, just wondering here since I can get a pair of new shocks that my brother had from his old ranger but never put on from him, will shocks from a 1988 Ranger fit on a 1993?

the simplist anwser to a simple question is to anwser it your self.

take a tape meassure or cross ref numbers out of parts stores online catalogs

Alright, here is how I found out. I went to summitracing.com and looked up both years. Then looked at applications and compared part numbers. They say they are different, some shocks list different years though that over lap. I am not sure why though, they say 89-97 all use the same. That would include GenII and GenIII Rangers, I didn't think there was a big change from GenI to GenII suspensions other then the spindle mounts. Some applications cover from 83-2000 so....................I would give them a try for sure.

Well, I called Napa, and the guy refused to cross reference the numbers for me. Looks like I won't be buying my oil pan there this spring.

I called Advance, they said that it's the same number. So I guess I'll give them a try.

I actually looked at a good number of the ones summit carries. Not all the details (compressed and extended measurments) are there for all their listings. From what I say, the only difference was length and that was onlt in a few. Others were the smae part numbers. I guess different companies decided differently on what works.

dont some of the trucks mount the shocks off the top of the radius arm and some on the side of the radius arm.

I could be thinking some of the f150's.

if you look on rockauto they give you a pretty good list of what fits and what don't.

for napa, look online. napaonline.com
