Picked up an 85 BII for a toy (3rd vehicle). Greatest vehicles ever. Had a 87 ranger xlt in the past, also a cool truck.

My question is, how do i get my wife to see the value in Bronco II's. I think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. She thinks its a POS and just costs $$$.

You guys ever run in to this? Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Take her out wheelin' and show her how much fun it can be for the both of you. It's worth a shot anyway lol.

you can get a new wife but you can't get a new b2.

ps. wives or girlfriends should ignore the above.

Take her down a trail in it? That might back fire on ya though, haha. She might say it is dangerous, AND a POS...

That is my suggestion.

EDIT: I like Martin's opinion!
2 posts while I was typing that..

Tell her it you can spend your money in 2 different ways.

1. a project truck that will give you hours of pleasure and things to do when she wants you out of her hair. You will be at home and not out and about.

2. go to the bar every night to drink. She can then wonder if you are going to make it home safely, or if you ran off with the big breasted blonde that you have been hitting on all week...

Good luck.

simply tell her it is good on gas. with reg. at damn near $3/gal. a bii is great on fuel, depending on what else u drive.

My wife has always known my need for cars. She knew that before we got married and has endured it for what will be 30 years in June. She has told me that I could be playing with cars in the garage, driveway and going to car shows (Which I always drug the kids along when they were little) or I could be sitting at a bar. Key to having her understand me, I never spent money when we were low or tight. The play cars were always secondary. if I wanted to do a major upgrade or repair on the play vehicles, I planned well ahead of time. My play cars were always performance Mustangs, which over time has always done me right and either broke even or made money when selling. That part made her leave me alone after many years. I proved myself to her, but it was a long trail. Don't know if this helps, but hope it does. Good luck.

gas mileage is a good spin. my daily driver is a 08 super duty with a 38 gallon tank. thats nots all that bad though...16 - 18 on the highway depending on how heavy my foot is.

its a hobby at the end of the day. i've been fixing one noise at a time on it. but it still hasn't been all that bad. bought the bii for 800, and i've prolly got another 800 in to tune up parts getting it reliable (clutch was the heavy hitter there).

i can see the end of the tunnel...for now. my goal is to get a good solid rolling chassis together for a glorified 4 wheeler, then at some point down the road, do a lift, then eventually a 302 swap.

still at the end of the day it'll cost less than a sportsman 500.

you brought up some good points. theres worse things that could be done with the $$$. kinda wanted to get ur take on if i'm the only one going through the justifying the bii existance. have a good one, happy pre-new years

I agree with Bossman - my wife and I have been married for only 6 months but she knew about my car obsession when we first met. Tell her about it before you buy it and then she might be more receptive to the idea.

my advice is make it your truck so you have reason to work on it.
Lesson here for everyone else is to get a cool gf who likes trucks

When she comes out to complane about the BII, Slap her on the ass and tell her to get back in the kitchen where women belong to cook and clean.

Lol, you guys all know why womens feet are smaller than ours don't ya?

So they can stand closer to the sink and stove!:D

i hope she drives a car, you get a foot of snow and her ass cant get out of the drive and it stuck driving the b2. she will have some respect for it then.

thankfully my girlfriend knows and appreciates my love for motor vehicles....

i'd just tell her tough shit, its nice to have a 3rd vehicle around as backup, what happens when your tranny in the super duty needs a rebuild and while it is in the shop she gets in an accident with the car??? good old trusty bronco 2 will get you from point a to point b without too much trouble....

yeah i would just tell her hey guesss what go **** urself. but then again that is also probably why i dont got a gf right now
