Why There's No Rangers

that does look like a lifted maverick, now that you mention lowering it

7 seconds was enough for me. And that time I'll never get back again.

Shifting without the clutch doesn't hurt the syncros a bit. If you do it right the gears are spinning with no load on them, just like they are when the clutch is depressed.
I definitely don't want to nitpick a technician, but in case there are any inexperienced drivers who start getting ideas about this, "doing it right" means exactly matching the RPM of the counter shaft and the output shaft before you engage the next gear, which I would argue is very difficult to get perfect. Close yes, perfect no. Any difference in RPM needs to be taken up by the synchro for that gear to match up the speed of the output and counter shafts, which means there will be some wear. Or you mash the synchro sleeve or baulk ring teeth or the gear itself, which is even less desirable than just wearing the synchro.

Sorry to be pedantic.

EDIT: I suppose I should add that you'll also wear the synchros some even when you use the clutch... how much they wear is just a question of the difference in RPM between the shafts. Still have to get those 2 shaft speeds synchronized.

EDIT 2: true, if you shift either way with great skill, you can make the synchro wear fairly low, and they can last a very long time, but they’re still wear items. Just avoid the bang shifting unless you like rebuilding transmissions :)

Yuge Maverick turnout at the Ford Nationals this weekend. Several were lowered and looked good. The Maverick section was right next to us, I was talking to one guy and his son, the son said he ordered a new Ranger Raptor in November and didn't have it yet.

The new Ford display had Bronco Raptor that stickered for $97,000.
No Rangers though.

I'm not gonna watch the video, love his videos but not all of them because yes he rants.
My opinion is the new Ranger is completely alien. It doesn't even have the spirit of the older design philosophy.
Biggest gripe is the engine choices which maybe they changed, from what I've seen it's ONLY turbocharged GASOLINE engines. Chevy offers a turbo but it's a DIESEL.
The Colorado interior is also cheap the Ranger is just as cheap not talking about comfort more reliability.
It's pathetic as a truck more like a bulky car with a bed and your engine will piss oil before you hit 30-50k miles.
No manual transmission so yeah but at least my wife's 4.6 auto F150 the engine will be the last too go.

2.3 in our Bronco has 60k and runs like it did when we brought it home.

The door panels are not vinyl wrapped cardboard like the old Rangers... probably for the better.

Its a shame they don't offer the 7spd, it exists for the Bronco line. May be a different length to match the Bronco automatic (which is different than the Ranger auotmatic)

Hard pass on a modern diesel, they are about like a computer controlled carb was in the 80's at this point.

I'm around 65k on the 2.3. As you know I've beat the piss out of this truck. On stock struts and shocks. Still runs and drives like a dream.

Oh that 7 speed even down to 5 would have been awesome

That's good to hear 👍 not knocking your truck I just feel it was a weird choice and probably made by overegulation.
I just love pushrods, they are an apocalypse rig.
Probably black magic in today's world like old carb run engines 😂

My Papaw is in love with them Maverick trucks though, too small for me I'm way to tall but they look clean!!!

The vast majority of Mavericks at the Ford Nationals were owned by old people.
(Says the guy with a new knee who's almost 64 but at least doesn't look like it.)

If I hadn't found my '94 earlier this year, I would be driving a Maverick Tremor right now and have car payments.

Considering inflation and repo working overtime, you might get lucky and find one with it's price slashed.
