350 in a ranger

I don't think so. Its sacrilegious

Every brand has it's problems. (4.0 SOHC timing anyone?) They also have some great designs usually. Biggest factors in any project is goals and what's available locally...

IMO it's the newer electronic BS that gives the most headaches. I'm good with wiring until it's complexity for the sake of complexity. (Touch screen headlights?)
The 4.0 SOHC is a German Ford. You remember the Germans, right? They started 2 wars at home and lost them both.
I can't agree more about touch screens and "driver assistance" b/s. Do you think the "evasive steering" on my 25 Escape will know what to do on a snow covered road?

Actually they didn't really start the first one.

Nope, SBC's in big numbers and darn few big block Chevy's. A few 100,000 mile Fox Mustangs that someone threw a blower on to run 11's ended up blowing steam out the exhaust when the head gaskets gave up. I don't remember ever seeing a Ford, Olds, Pontiac, Mopar or AMC scatter it's engine on the track. One Thunderbolt replica had it's rear end lock up at the 1000 ft mark and slid through the lights backwards at 100mph, one Ranger bodied tube chassis race car launched hard off the trans brake and slammed to a stop when the center section of his 9 inch blew out, and one Charger blew it's clutch or flywheel on launch and took off part of the driver's foot.

i have split 3 SBF myself.

seen more SBF completely exploded on the track than anything else in terms of total destruction from about 93 to 2003 at Milan.

back in the Detroit drag at days I left rods from 340s 383s a Buick 350...and a 472 Cadillac and some 2.2 turbo mopars myself.

Wow, who built your engines?

most are oem in regards to SBF rotating assembly. our 700 plus hp NA engines are still together but I built those. can't do that with stock stuff.
