I guess I just don't understand the "Brainwash" stronghold that Toyota has on its followers. It just seems that most of the Toyota followers think that their products are superior and the following is SO STRONG! For instance, my uncle has been a Toyota man for years and is so crazy about them that he tells everyone else that their stuff is junk while the toyota is far superior. My brother bought a Toyota 3-4 yrs ago and has replaced everything but the steering wheel and but yet tells me how much better the Toyota is vs the Ranger. A guy I work with is a devout follower and tries to tell me why they continue to sell for so much more than Rangers or S-10's and that they are just far superior. For instance, I paid $9600 for my 03 Ranger FX4 with 89k and my friend continues to tell me how Toyotas of the same year with 150k + are worth $12,000 cause they are just a hot seller and are "WORTH" it. I just don't get it! Maybe years back they were a better vehicle but nowadays American vehicles are getting just as many miles out of em as Jap vehicles. And, a Ranger 4x4 will do anything a Tacoma will do, but for way less money. So, why would I pay thousands more for a toyota than a Ranger or S-10 cuz it says Toyota. Lets face it, they all run 200k-300k anymore with little trouble. Heck, my friends Tacoma has a rattling sound coming from the AC compessor and they want $2300 to replace it. Toyota said the were so expensive cuz they never have to replace em'. OK!
Sorry to rant but I just don't get it. I own a Ranger but I don't think they are superior to a Toyota, S-10, Nissan, etc and think they all make great product now days. Have you guys noticed any of this or am I just surrounded byt "FOLLOWERS"?

I blame subliminal advertising.

Those 22r's were nice though. Run them dry all day and they still wouldn't miss a beat.

I have a couple friends that were really into Toyotas a couple years back and they've since moved on. I think they had 3 blown heads with 4 trucks in 2-3 years, all 22r motors.

Yeah sure they last, but anything thing does if you take decent care of it.

i know a lot of guys that act like that. i just dont pay attention to them.

****ing annoying huh? its usually the people that don't know how to change their own oil and buy all the BS advertising.

i like toyotas... only problem is they aren't built to house a man so they are extremely cramped and way overpriced.

i see them on CL all the time for like $5-10k for a beat up lifted POS

Since you mentioned nissans this guy my brother works with bought a nissan titan and the axle housing broke! how does that happen!? crap japan trucks

I think the older toyota trucks people like because of the high bodies and they're good off road I hear..

As far as toyota cars go I think there is just a myth thats been created that they are better but we all know thats false because there's been dozens of recalls in the past few years for thousands of toyotas.

I brake for toyotas because they can't.

im guilty of loving toyota's, almost as much as my rbv's....almost... lol

just pics of the few i have owned and built from the ground up

trucks like the ones i have pictures of is why the following exist

Ford guys do it too. I was driving downtown in my S10 and I had a guy, in a BII, pull up next to me, rev, and yell out "CHEVYS SUCK YOU FAGGOT" and then peel out.

Of course I flew past him, since the 2.9 or whatever his truck had can't much compare to my 4.3, but I did see the other side of the picture from when I used to think everything that wasn't a Ranger was a POS.

Everyone does it, it's not just toyota owners.

I got some friends into Toyotas, basically they all say new Toyotas are total pieces of Sh*t. My one friend in particular has had a couple of old t100's now, constant issues, but they are old so :dunno:. I stay away from the old Toyotas and advise people not to get them due to the fact they literally rust in half in my area. Personally i think the Nissan pickups were always better than the Toyotas

I disagree. This is from a truck with 70k miles.

Frame is completely rusted out, and had been welded at 50k as well. The bed rusted out and FELL OFF at 70k, passengers door shut and never opened again at 60k, drivers opened and never shut again at 65k, and the alternator quit at 67k forcing me to sell it off for parts.

That baby purred like a kitten even after sucking a mouse nest through the intake though. Well, more like roared like a lion. The exhaust rusted off.

Oh, and did I mention none of the windows except for the back window worked? This board held the window up until I could drill it out and toss a screw in there.

for the record, even my WORST frame on any toyota ive owned wasnt half as bad as that nissan frame lol

You do not understand anything do you??

I have buddies who still have their Toyota trucks that have have had since the early '80's. I had a 22R 4x4 from the 80's that I drove to California and back to Ocala three times a year and went wheeling along the way as well. It never let me down. I kept that truck for 10 years!! I had it along with my 83 Ranger 4x4 and my 76 Bronco. I only sold my Toyota to a friend when I wanted to buy a section of his property near Ocala that I still own. That was a great little Toyota!!! My buddies who still have their early Toyota trucks tell me they never let them down and they keep running forever. Some of my buddies who bought new Ford Rangers or an F-150 4x4 kept them for a few years but went to the Toyota brand and never looked back at Ford again. Go figure!!! I have friends who got rid of their Ranger as soon as the Tacoma 4 door came out. They can put the family and the pets in the truck and go camping for the weekend and enjoy that wheeling together feeling. Last year a buddy of mine bought a brand new 2010 Tacoma 4x4 4 door and paid $18,000 out the door for it. That is a great price.
The Ranger 2010 4x4 was about the same price and after he drove the Tacoma and the Ranger he picked the Tacoma...more power, more room
and the price was about the same!!!

Does that answer your question?
