why do you drive ford?

Eh, I know this is old but I stumbled across it.

I don't know when my love for Ford started. My grandpa had a F150 that I loved. Somehow my brothers and I all ended up being (more or less) Ford drivers.

I was into cars at a younger age, even then really liked Ford trucks, then as I got into high school I got into Mustangs which I still love to this day (never cared for Camaros).

I haven't owned a lot of vehicles up to this point in my life but they have all been Fords with one exception. I had a '90 Mustang 2.3L, '87 Turbo Coupe, '94 Tempo, '94 F-250, 2005 Mustang GT and now a 2009 Ranger.

The exception was a 1997 Camry that I bought as a winter beater about 3 years ago. Drove it for almost 2 years, then my wife and I were taking it on a trip to Pigeon Forge, my wife turned the cruise back on (which was set at 70) when we were going about 45. It kicked down to 1st, screamed up to almost 6000 RPM and blew up the engine. Wouldn't it figure the only Toyota I've ever owned is the one that blows up.

First I hold no vehicular Prejudice but all the Ford cars or trucks I have owned have been very dependable to me despite maintenance negligence early in my life. Also there are enough of them that both new and junkyard parts are dirt cheap. Also parts interchanges are great for what I drive. My 1988 Bronco2s fit many explorer and Ranger parts (trannys, diffs, engines, etc) Also If I want I can get oil and air filters for less than 2$ from rockauto, though I use K&Ns I got at the junkyard for almost nothing. I like to understand and work on my vehicles and for me Fords work the best and are the most affordable to keep up, so in a nutshell that is why I drive Fords.

My entire family hates Ford with a passion. My 1st car was a 86 BMW 538e. Then i got a 86 4bager Ranger and that thing was tough as nails while i had it. People like to talk down on Ford but i happen to love the styling and the car n trucks they produce. I have never owned a chevy nor do i ever plan to. As far as im concerned i will be Built FORD Tough for every car/truck i buy.

Working on Fords is also a pretty easy thing ive come to find when it comes to regualr mait stuff. My Gf said her car was acting funny (2002 Eclipse GT) i popped the hood, took a step back and just laughed. there is sooo much garbage and shit stuffed everywhere i didnt wanna look at it let alone try and fix it. Turns out you have to remove part of the exhaust to get to the starter. yeah that's a killer idea. But hey, 2 hrs latter and a few (oh it will be fine without that) and its back to normal. I want to drive that pos off a cliff.

my grandpa had a 1966 ford f-250 standard cab, long step side bed, 352 V8, 4 speed new process trans. dana 60 rear end with 4.11 gears and factory dump bed. when he died, my dad purchased it from my grandma, because she needed the money and not the truck. but when I was 15 me and my dad rebuilt the engine together, as a father son bonding sort of thing. it was an awesome experience for me, and I plan to inherit the truck when my dad passes. some of the best memories I have involved that old truck, and I hope that there are many more to come.

Always drove GM until I started working at Ford, and bought an F150. It was very reliable and easy to work on, and I have owned Fords ever since.
Except for old muscle cars, Fords are pretty much all I buy.

It's easy to spell... I was public skooled..:icon_rofl:

I was raised with Ford cars and trucks, but I wasn't always a Ford guy. I was Mopar in the late '60's and early '70's, through 1978 with Dodge trucks. My last Mopar car was a '71 Duster. I was into high performance, and Mopar fit the bill back then, with an assortment of 340's, 360's, a 426 hemi, and 440's. I got out of drag racing around '76, and went to Power Wagons. Then the '80's hit, OMG,what to do? So went to German cars, since Ford and Mopar quality declined to the pointe that I wanted nothing more to do with the newer ones.
Then in 1991, when my last Power Wagon just wasn't worth keeping, I looked at a '91 F150. Wow, I think were the first words out of my mouth. What a huge improvement after my first Ford back in '72. Been buying Ford only since. It doesn't hurt that both my brothers retired from Ford, and I get a pretty decent price.
GM is just not a brand I've any interest in, never have. It always seems the "bowtie" people have some sort of mental problem with their manhood. And rice? Never!!!!! I don't care if they're made in North America or not, they just don't feel right. And how could I face my brothers?:D

My Ford list is very long, first was a '72 Comet GT 302, but really wasn't a good example, [needed a valve job among other things at only 24k miles]. Since 1991, I've owned 13 Fords, including two Rangers, my '04 is still my DD, and my newest is a '15 Focus SE hatchback. I just hope Ford returns to making a decent looking "F" series when I'm tired of my '12 150. New ones remind me of Toyoduh way too much.

Grew up around Fords, drove a Chevy until my early 20's then went back to Fords. Fords have always proven rock solid, easy to work on, parts are cheap and incredibly reliable. My Mustang has 286k on the stock motor/trans, Ranger just turned 200k. Wouldn't hesitate to drive either one cross country tomorrow.
