Okay I know this is going to sound pretty dumb, but it's like I've said before I'm not a mechanic by far at all. Ever since I have owned my rangers there's never been any heat hooked up in the truck at all. My hoses were redirected from the water pump to the thermostat, and since I have now purchased a heater core and would like to put heat in it. I don't know exactly where the hoses are supposed to run, do they need metal pipe in between the hoses? Can anybody please help me out with what steps I need to take? Ty so much

You can just run 5/8" hoses (I think it's that size, my '97 is, pretty sure my '90 is as well) from the water pump port to the heater core (either port) and the other port to the thermostat. You don't need metal tube, the factory does that so they can run it cleaner and closer to the exhaust.
