Motorcraft 10W30 in a gallon jug anywhere???

Its pretty easy to come by in quart size, but what gives? 10W30 PSD oil in everywhere in a gallon.

It also pisses me off its all synthetic blend instead of dead dino, but thats another day....

have you checked the interweb, aka the Google, you can get anything there.

Yeah, i can on there. But im not ordering oil offline lol.

Why not? It's a perfectly reasonable way to get it. I buy most of mine that way when it's on sale, and it's significantly cheaper delivered to my door than going to the nearest chain parts store.

Guess i dont have a good reason besides im just against online shopping in general.

If i couldnt get the oil at all, i would. But if somethings available locally ill pay the extra for it just to buy it at an actual store.

Does anything officially call for 10w-30 any more?

I put it in my 460.

I run it in my 302 too (valvoline though)

I thought they had an edict awhile ago that everything except a few 5w-30 weirdos (like the 4.0) were to use 5w-20.

I have no idea.

Ive been thinking about switching it to valvoline. I run 10w40 valvoline in my 77 and it does just fine. Cheaper to.

Funny thing, i used to run pennzoil/fram in rusty #1, and despite all the negative statements about those 2 i never had anything bad happen.

Penzoil is not as bad as it used to be. They used a paraffin wax in it years ago and it would build on the bearings and block oil passages and plug up the pump. They stopped doing that.

I will never trust Fram oil filters. Some guys use them for hundreds of thousands of miles and never have a problem.

In my years at the dealers I replaced 13 engines. 1 dropped a valve. 2 had not had oil changes in over 35K miles. The other 10 had Fram oil filters and chewed up main bearings. That's a pattern.

As for conventional vs a non-high mileage blend its just a matter of how refined the oil is. Synthetic and synthetic blend oils are run through a molecular sieve so the particles are all closer to the same size which helps resist thermal sheer, and then they get more cleaning agents. If you have been using it for a while, it won't cause any problems.

As for availability of the jugs, nobody stocks them because not many people would buy them.

Also, you can use diesel oil in a gas engine. It will just clean it out better.

I wondered about the diesel oil. But it said not for vehicles equipped with catalytic converters....so i thought better of it.

I bought 6qts of 10w30 motorcraft at china mart, of course they were out of FL1As so i went to autozone and paid 10 frickin bucks for one.

My buddy says im stupid for runnin motorcraft, he runs mobil 1 oil/filter. I think he buys into what tv commercials say to much, he pretty much repeats them word for word.

I never run anything less than 10w oil, it gets way too thin for the summers here. As for brands, I don't really care too much.

our pacifica calls for 10w-30. It's been the only car that ever specifically called for 10w-30. For me, I use whatever the hell oil I want. lol. It's not going to hurt putting new oil in no matter who makes it. Yes some are better than others but all new oil is WAY better than the old used up oil that's in your truck now. I've used everything from cheap Walmart brand oil to all the different synthetic blends, high mileage and what not and I have NEVER had an issue with any new oils. Here lately i'll get it done at work with our bulk oil. It comes out to just under $15 to change my own oil on lunch break. And I know I did it right rather than the Walmart horror stories you read about.

The 10w has -nothing- to do with how the oil performs when warm.

I wont run the no name stuff unless its just a mid change top off.
