Every ranger I have looked up on kbb has been way over the realistic price your gonna get/pay for it.

my 2000 xlt 4x4 was listed as something like 6500 in fair condition when i sold it last summer. and in all reality it was worth maybe 4000.

the ranger i bought after that one was listed at 5000 or so and its realistically worth 4ish

But .... why?
Why does kbb set the price so high?

i think its based on popularity.

try looking up the "trade in" value. its prolly more realistic.

KBB isn't just arbitrarily 'set' it's based on averages of what real rangers actually sell for within given levels of condition and type of sale.

it's based on data, they don't just 'decide' a price.

KBB way overprices everything and is a joke. My 2008 is worth more now than what I actually paid for it, I guess it isn't arbitrarily set but someone in a tin hat is setting the price. Rangers historically depreciate the worst of all the pickups on the market and incentives/rebates have a bunch to do with that.

They also go by the recent average sales prices of all vehicals. Some cars and trucks are in much better condition for the same vehicle and that vehicle will get appraised more of course. They have mine listed a a decent price and this Monday afternoon I took a buddy over to pick up his new 4x4 Tacoma and while we were there 2 salesman came over and were looking at my Ranger and said it was super nice. One said his daughter would love to have it and gave me his card and said to call him if I ever wanted to sell it. He told me he would offer me $6,000 for it that day. I told him I don't want to sell it!!! It has never had any issues and it still looks new.
That did make me feel good. That is the second time I have been to a dealership in the last month with a buddy picking up a new truck that people who wokerd at the dealership have come over and checked out my Ranger.

LOL, I don't know if you know this, but he has TWO of those! :icon_rofl:
