If you have 86/92 Ranger with a 2.3L. Ford has a TSB 94-6-15 for oil leaks at the oil pan. The oil pan gasket would also fall apart and clog the oil pickup screen. The fix for this problem is to replace the oil pan with a updated oil pan the uses a silicone 93/97 Ranger 2.3L pan gasket. You will need a 93/94 Ranger 2.3L oil pan. The 95/97 oil pans don't have a hole for the low oil sensor. The TSB says the engine must be removed and put on a stand to replace the oil pan. I didn't feel like pulling the engine again. I did that a few years ago when I rebuilt the engine. I wish I had the updated oil pan at that time. I found the oil pan swap can be done by removing the transmission, flywheel and block plate. I also removed the driver side motor mount nut and lifted the engine 3/4". The oil pan then came right out and the new pan in without a problem.
