What do you love about your ranger and do you wish anything was built different on your ranger.

I love that it's tiny and cramped and rattles and squeaks and groans when the suspension flexes and the speakers sound like they're blown out and no air conditioning and no anti-sway bars so it wallows over terrain like a drunk hippopotamus and....

It's my happy place.

Love is a strong word, but I've keep my '99 around since 2005, so I must like it a little bit. For a long time I told myself that I didn't like it and it was just what I needed, but I've had a lot of oportunities to get rid of it over the years and its still here.

I don't like it as much as I did my '84 Ranger, but '84 was my first vehicle and was the exact vehicle I wanted for my first. Unfortunately I totaled that one in '09 beyond any possibility for repair, but I still have it and it is still my favorite in memory.

I hope the '85 will eventually fill the gap left by the '84, but I don't like it enough yet to be a priority. It's almost the same truck as the '84 was, except 2.3 I4 instead of 2.8 V6. Wasn't running when I bought it a year ago. Isn't running now, but I think I've got most of the parts.

If I could wish for anything to be different about them:
'84 - That I hadn't totaled it.
'99 - That it came with 5.0 from factory (soon to be corrected)
'85 - That I'd done a better pre purchase inspection. Not running was fine, but way more rust than expected.

I have an 2013 f-150 and a 1991 ranger, I perfer to drive the ranger because of the smaller cab where I can reach things more easily. I have doing some minor modifications to it, built my own exhaust from the cat back, used the tail pipe off the f-150, since I installed Magna-Flow on the 150. Also removed orginal seats and installed bucket seats for an explorer, boy are they comfortable. working to swap out open diff to limited slip, plus some other small items, need to installed new lights that Ranger 85 4x4 got me for Xmas, overhead console I got from the junkyard. This is the second Ranger that I have owned, love it greatly.

I really enjoy my 05. I love that its a stick and fun to drive. Its great in town and if i have to go out of town, the gas mileage is so much better than my nissan titan.

I keep saying i am going to put bucket seats but still haven't done it

I like my 2011 a lot but I wouldn't say I love it. Overall, it's a pretty good truck as long you don't mind dealing with the poor rear disc brake design.

The 2019 is ok and does the job I bought it for but because of predominent modern preferences and styling, comes up short to me and my preferences.

I have a 98 3.0 auto that I've owned since then. So yeah, there must be something. Just turned 193,000 a few days ago. It's my daily driver, so I drive it more than I do my Lightning or my three motorcycles.

The fact that I had the axle rebuilt in 2021 must mean something. It had a seal leak, so had a friend with a shop rebuild it. All new everything, bearings, seals, spider gears and 4.10 ring and pinion set. Also had the drain them transmission, put a shift kit in it, new fluid and filter. So yeah, good to go for a long time now.

And in 2022, bought a set of 50 year old Cragar Mag Master rims for it. And added a set of knock off spinners to them since the original center caps are not available.

I FORGOT! dang it.....better luck next week.

I've loved all of my RBV's. Though at times it's been a codependent disfunctional relationship filled with abuse from both sides.

Funny that this should come up. I just read an article about a guy that was in love with his Monte Carlo. I’ll spare the details but I don’t know that I would say I love my Ranger. The bar has been set pretty high.

I saw that on an episode of My Strange Addiction.

Wowzer!!

Yeah, love this '02 Ranger. 'Course it was my Dad's truck so just cannot part with it.

So far pretty cheap easy maintenance. Love having 4-wheel drive for the snow. Simple controls for the A/C and heater. Descent mileage. Nice to sit up high to view the traffic.

Oh I wish it had a 5.0L V-8. Sometimes I wish the box was wide enough for 4' wide flake/plywood/sheet rock boards. Also hate that danged overdrive disable button in the end of the shift lever - always activate that da*med thing when shifting into reverse.

Hmm... "Love" could be a loaded word here...

Anyone remember the fake commercial on Saturday Night Live for the Mercury Mistress?
