Hi, I wasn't sure how to ask it. I have a 2000 Ford Ranger "Sport", 4cyl. I need to get an alternator, but I wanted to buy one from a junk yard or online. Do they 1996-2000 use the same alternator? I believe mine is the 95amp, but I don't know for sure. I saw the thread on here about it, so I have to check. But I have seen alternators for $35 from a junkyard, but they are 1999.

Thanks for help.

Edit: I also was curious if other Fords from that time period will work. Will an Explorer alternator, for example, work in the Ranger?

Edit: I saw this, http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/alternator.shtml

Does this mean 1996 - 2003 had the same alternator? Interchangeable?

There Are 95 Amp Models In:

1991-1994 Aerostar and Navajo 4.0

1993-1996 Bronco

1991-1999 Explorer

1994-1997 B-Series (All!)

1992-2001 Ranger (All!)

1997-1998 Tracer and Escort (95 amp)

Yes, that list looks correct.

friendly FYI

when looking for interchanges, hit the Napaonline website. look up your part then scroll down and hit buyers guide. that will list other vehicles that use the same part.
most likely other vendors have something similar.
