Which is worse?

I plan on attending college for psychology, and i want to work with abused children, along with drug addictions, someday. I was watching Dr.Phil today and the discussion was sex offenders. During this discussion, murderers were brought up and why they don't have to register to show where they live. So it got me thinking.

You have a child, age 20. Which is not as bad in your eyes, them raping a 5 year old boy, or them killing a 5 year old boy? This is just for my curiosity, and i don't mean to cause anything by this besides to see what people think. Discuss (politely) away.

They both hold equal value. But I guess raping a little kid is worse since the other really depends on the situation of other offense. I like my punishment for it.

Why:

Grown ass adults have no reason to even be thinking about a little kid in that manner, mentally ill or not. My punishment for said crime saids.

I guess that depends on your perspective. I have 2 kids, 21 and 14. As a parent, I can't imagine the torment of living with either of these things happening to one of my children.

I know a woman who was sexually abused as a child. She sometime wishes she would've been killed instead of having to live with what happened all those years ago.

I just don't think it's possible, as an outsider, to choose one over the other. You want real answers, ask a victim.

I couldn't tell ya, but I can add my experience...

I dated a girl in college that was smart, witty, great personality, and smoking hot. Well, she had been raped when she was about 12, and to this day has problems because of it. First time I had a hint was when she busted out crying in the middle of bedtime... freaked me the hell out and made me feel pretty damn low. She had a flashback because I am a pretty hairy fella, and so was the rapist years back. If I shaved everything including my face, she was fine. This was when she was 21, so about 9 years later, and it still put her in crying fits triggered by certain things. But, she is still alive.

I see no distinction. If it was an adult, and not a child, I would say murder. But I have 1 major law and punishment in my world.... you mess with kids... you die.

I know that doesn't answer your question, but it's how I feel.

Now to answer your question... Murder is worse. For the plain and simple fact that you can survive rape, ... by definition, murder is death with malice and forethought.
