Where is the best place to pick up a dimmer wire?

I am installing a guage pod and need to illuminate it with a dimmer feed.

I was thinking in the radio wire harness, but does ford use dimmers in the radio anymore?

When I did it in my 1989 I found one in the radio harness.

Where would I locate one on a 1999 Ranger XL?

I ended up pulling the aftermarket stereo. Ford does not use dimmers on the new radios. I think 1994 was the last dimmable radio in the RBV.

I did however find the 4 wire harness for the foglight switch (truck does not have fogs) I probed the wires until I found a blue with red strip that turned out to be the dimmer wire.

I also realised the 4WD switch indicator light bulbs was burnt out. So apparently the 2WD, 4X4 HIGH, and 4X4 LOW didn't light up anymore with the headlights on. Wonder if ford has those bulbs in stock.

since my guage is under the HVAC controls, i tapped into those lights.
