Ive got a '99 ranger that i want to strait axle sometime in the near future. just to be sure. the only thing i need is the axle itself right?

And a steering box at the least, some people like Toyota boxes. Spend a little time searching around here, quite a few members have done solid axle conversions on IFS trucks.
why couldn't i use the stock power steering?
Yep. Just need an axle and some pixy dust to sprinkle on it. Say a few magic words and the Fairy Godmother will do the rest.

a straight axle, some beer, duct tape, 3 or 4 sticks of hot glue, 17-39 popsicle sticks (depending on desired lift height), 4 crayons (make sure they're all secondary colors), 2 commercial sized buckets of elmers glue, 2 boxes of raisan bran, an orange, four #2 pencils and a jar of mayonaise
