where can i buy material, to make an airbox?

alro steel can hook you up with types of plastics...not cheap....any place selling circle track parts will be the most cost effective and likely near you.

i like that alot, gives it a mean ass look! how much difference in performance have you noted?

it's a big build, I never drove it before I made the intake so I have no comparison

sorry i wasn't able to get back to you last night but....
We don't have any plastic laying around that would meet your dimensions but we get abs and HDPE from interstateplastics.com. They will cut to order for relatively cheap. Just remember that if you are going to use a high temp adhesive, joint configurations are ideal in lap so figure in extra material to make some hot bends, should look really nice for ya.

Good Luck

its all good i went to a place called "regional supply" who sold me a 4x8 sheet of abs for $12. i used angle aluminum on the inside edges and riveted through the outside i'll post up pics in a day or so

i bought some abs plastic sheeting and built an airbox, notice the 1.5" lip going around the top with weatherstripping on it:

i cut a hole in the hood to correspond to the airbox:

here it is with the hood closed, sealing to the hood:

and the cowl section i ordered from summit:

i needed to notch the cowl for that little ridge going down the center of the hood:

i am still in the bondo process i'll post up pics when i have more progress

I was going to suggest Metal Mart in Lehi, but it looks like you got it covered. Nice rig! I'm not a Chevy fan (although they are choice number 2 for me), but can really appreciate your work. That intake is sweet, and certainly won't lack any air. What part of Utah are you in? I'm in Salt Lake.

Since the box it sealed Im sure youll accomplish what you wanted, but after opening the hood the way you did, you really didnt need the box. It would vent alot more of the heat from the cowl, and the difference then between with and without a box would have negligable. However it looks great, and done proper. Good job.
