NOTICE Where are the serious off-road Ford Ranger builds!!?? Show me....

I had a situation a few years ago where a group of them tried taking down a fence on our other property to get to a trail on Forest Service land (where there has never been a trail) and my cousin's wife told them to leave. They told her they were going to come back at night and dispose of her. 75% of them that we run into are drinking while they drive, drinking when they stop on the side of the road and leaving beer cans all over, blatantly off trail, making their own trails, or various other types of land abuse...use your imagination. There are bad eggs in every group but it sure seems like the sxs crowd has a lot more.

I'm just going to leave this here. Happened at our club event over labor day.

We lost the ability to run a quad on some hunting trails near my buddies camp because of people who don't respect other people's property or work on said property. Now we have to hoof it up and down the mountain if we want to hunt it.

The SxS guys are almost always worse than the quad guys. They love to prove themselves by making up the obstacle in 2wd. All they accomplish is ripping the trail to hell. Put it in 4wd and drive up it.

the current rangers are monsters

just drive the sheet metal off of the damn thing with 37s and beef it till it holds.

if you dropped off a brand new ranger truck to me..
.i would cut it in half and extend it 12-14 inches and put a flatbed on it, cut the gay ass intrusion bars out of the way and hack the fenders out for 37s..... beef up the steering links with my own

and party. they are bad ass.

i have been seeing a bunch on 35s and the Colorados....and they are beat to shit.

they are out there

You know at least with the last gen Frontier you could directly swap the suspension of a Titon? Wouldn't it be cool if the Ranger could do that with the F-150? And then one happens upon a dead or dying F-150 Raptor.... :icon_idea:

But then the Bronco Raptor is related to the Ranger, might that be a savior?

If only we could find a influencer with a website that could do this upgrade for science and inspire everybody!
There is a guy on FB that has done the full Bronco Sasquatch swap on his new Ranger. I was following along for a while. If I remember correctly he had to fab up a front diff mount. But I think everything else was straight bolt on the front. He did have to welld some brackets on the back axle for leaf springs. His wheels though set completely outside his truck with a 0 offset. I will try and find some pictures on it.

Everything sounded good until you got to the wheels. I hate that look.

Sasquatch Broncos do have bigger fender flares than a mere mortal Bronco.

Nothing like the Bronco Raptors though.

also if it's got a TRS sticker it's a RBV right?

I think the 1990-1997 Ford Ranger with the 4.0 and Dana 35 TTB are the better off-road Rangers. Especially the 1995-1997 with the 4R55E instead of the A4LD. These trucks offer more wheeltravel than the newer Rangers.

I think the 2001-2011 Ford Rangers are the better adventure (Overlanding) Rangers because they have better ground clearance and the 4.0 SOHC engine that offers more horsepower and torque to haul all of your camping and adventure gear than the earlier 4.0 OHV.

I wish my 1996 had a 4.0 SOHC motor for the extra horsepower and torque.

I would rather have the OHV. 18lb-ft of torque at a higher RPM isn't enough for me to justify dealing with the rube goldberg cam timing system. I also like the simplicity of the 90-94 trucks.

Ground clearance is a funny thing. On paper because of the IFS and not having the bulldozer TTB my wife's Bronco has more ground clearance. But hers is like a turtle, it is basically the same stem to stern.

Right after the transfer case (basically about the center of my doors) my frame swoops way up into the body... so in reality most of my truck has a lot more clearance than hers. Put tires on obstacles like you are supposed to (and how they taught at the Bronco Offroadeo) and at the end of the day it is close to a non-issue.

In deep snow the differences are very apparent between the two. It is easier to push an axle thru snow than it is to drag your entire belly thru snow... even without having all the fancy techno stuff or a locker.

Same. The OHV makes plenty of power for what it is. I weighed my Explorer after coming back from the Montana trip and fully loaded with camping gear, fuel and water, with just me and no passengers, it came in at 5840lbs. Even with that weight I can make 15-16mpg regularly on the highway at 70mph, occasionally I can break 18mpg and three times in Colorado I was over 20mpg, fully loaded. I would never trade the simplicity and reliability for a few more ponies.

So how do we motivate and inspire them? A challenge?

I wish I knew. Maybe a really nice magazine style writeup with some professional photos? Feature it on social media with a link to the forum? A few of my friends have had their vehicles featured like that, it's pretty cool.

I don't know how to do this but is there a way to look on FB or Instagram or whatever to find popular Ranger owner influencer type people and invite them to the forum and do a writeup on their vehicle?

Has to be a way to do something cool without spending money on it but some professional photos or something wouldn't cost a whole lot.

Yeah I didn't care for it either. Why i mentioned it. I know they sell a wide body kit that would offset the look a lot.
