NOTICE Where are the serious off-road Ford Ranger builds!!?? Show me....

Ok @Snoranger how do we build a stout IFS that can handle a 35-inch tire and swap it under a Ranger to get that kind of clearance? Do we need to swap to a 1998 style frame, or can it be done on a TTB frame?
Easiest way… body swap this.

That won’t get you quite the same clearance. You lose a little ground clearance from the inboard brakes.

The other option is: custom frame, supercharged coyote in the bed facing backwards, 10spd auto, aluminum 8.8 center sections, custom half shafts, Humvee portals, and 40’s.

I know that Baja Design makes long travel kits for the new Rangers that supposedly give you a ton of travel up front. Then Ive seen a 3 link kit to swap the leaf springs out in the back. Think the Bajas give you 4 inches in the front. So you'd have to accommodate for that in the rear. But then you could easily go 35s with some minor trimming. My buddies 4runner with a long travel and of course rear trailing arms scores over a 600 on the flex ramp on 37s. I dont see why we couldn't get that out of a new Ranger. Of course anything can be accomplished with enough money and willingness to do it. He daily drives it as well.

And there you go...

The advantage to TTB is that it creates a lot more wheel travel than the 1998-2011 SLA (Short arm Long Arm) setup.

Back on topic: I too would love to see more offroad builds. I'm not sure how to encourage that but seriously the whole reason I got into wheeling and specifically my Ranger was build threads on here back in the day.

I would really like to see someone come up with a long travel IFS setup with coilovers or air shocks and other front end parts that are way better than stock. It would be cool to see RCVs and something other than the IFS D35... I'm not sure exactly what that would be but surely there is a good donor out there for a center section and knuckle/hub assembly.

Are you just now figuring this out?

@85_Ranger4x4 has been trying to tell me this for years. I just don't want to believe it.

The whole point of TRS for the past 26-years has been to not only inspire, but also hopefully show them how to make it happen and affordable when possible.

I guess I can't ask people to share their builds if they don't have any motivation or inspiration to build something.

So how do we motivate and inspire them? A challenge?

How many people other than me have an older off-road Ranger just sitting that hasn't been wheeled or driven in a really long time?

You know at least with the last gen Frontier you could directly swap the suspension of a Titon? Wouldn't it be cool if the Ranger could do that with the F-150? And then one happens upon a dead or dying F-150 Raptor.... :icon_idea:

But then the Bronco Raptor is related to the Ranger, might that be a savior?

If only we could find a influencer with a website that could do this upgrade for science and inspire everybody!

The target buyer is the main thing holding up moderate builds here. I want a vehicle that I can easily SAS............. new Ranger buyers want IFS.

And thus, our problem. We are forced to buy what the steering wheel holders want and then make it how we want it.

I would really like to have portals and independent suspension at all 4 corners of a RBV. Just look at the ground clearance compared to TRS2 and I’m only on 4” portals and 31’s.

I seem to remember seeing some company having portals available for a Ranger, or maybe it was a Bronco...

I know the Bronco has them, they might interchange.

Im kinda leary about them though.
