She's a red '86 Ranger. Special ordered stripped, with A/C added. Her first home was with a central Florida farm family. Years passed and eventually she and their boy ran off to college. It was a nice change of pace and they went all over together. She didn't mind, she was born for it. Beach trips and band gigs, cartin friends and cartin furniture, they did it all.
He finally got that law degree he'd been studying so hard for, and she was proud to be in the parking lot with the Beamers and Benzes, so far from where they'd started. One day he went to work without her, and came home that night with a Porsche twenty years her junior. Her jealousy burned until the weekend when he decided to go help a buddy. The more they drove, the hotter she got. Finally she lost her head and wouldn't have any more of it.
It was a hot mid-August day, and ten miles along the highway through the desolate swampland of Paines Prarie to get back to Gainesville. As the day cooled, righteous warmth smoldered in her iron heart. Two days later she was sold to a local horse-trader who helped her cool off a bit and introduced her to Jay...
He's a jack-of-all-trades, works retail to pay the bills, and spends his extra time geeking and wrenching. A Navy brat, he moved a lot and finally settled in Gainesville. Right now he's studying/practicing for his welding certs and preparing to go back to school for an Engineering degree in Materials Sciences.
He needed a vehicle, and Rita was in the right place at the right time. It was easy to see she'd been around a bit, but that was ok. He had the time and the ability... as the money came along he'd fix her wounds. She needed someone to want her again, for nothing more than she was, and that was exactly what he wanted.

Hope y'all enjoyd this little narrative of how I came to have my Ranger. In the future I'll avoid referring to myself in third-person and I'll do my best to keep from anthromorphizing my truck too much.
So,details... 1986 Ranger 2.3 v.A 4x2 SWB. All stock, no opts from fact. ex. AC.
Plans are for a new (reman) 2.3 and reapir of the driveline to keep her going while I do the body repairs. Eventually I'd like to do a custom 'glass body/air kit and V-8 w/ trans and rear.
I love the site, it seems to be a pretty amiable place so far. Thanks to everyone that posts with thier knowledge and advice. Hopefully I'll learn enough to become a useful member.
