What's the most miles you got on a fuel filter?

In the 5 years I have owned my truck I have never had to change the fuel filter once on it. I did change it when I first bought her though. So how long have you gone without changing it? For as long as it's been on there the truck still runs great and doesn't hesitate or stall or overall gets excellent gas mileage. I plan on replacing it this spring though.

i am the 3rd owner of my truck and i believe it has the original fuel filter from the factory...

I left mine on for a year. A little over 25,000 miles. Barely had any crud in it, but I'm a little picky about where I fill up and I have a locking cap to make sure nothing else gets put in the tank.

I have about 2,000 miles on mine.....

But, the one before it was the original, Factory, filter. (I'm the 3rd or 4th owner, I would never do something like that.) It had 138,000 miles on it.... It was not a pretty site and it robbed my gas mileage.

I've seen people leave it on so long that it rusted through. That is a really stupid thing to do! It can do so many bad things to your fuel system. Of course if you have over 100,000 miles and the original sock, that is at least as bad.

Depends how much crud gets in the tank.
Im picky where i get fuel from, the same 1 or 2 places. I bought my truck from the original owner w/ 90K mi., he said he never changed it, the truck now has 200K mi and filter has never been changed, still runs great.

My Zuk has almost 300,000 km on the original fuel filter...I asked the technician at a dealership how long it would be before it stops working...he said it won't actually stop working (as in plug up the fuel line)...but it won't actually work properly...

I've had the replacement in my toolbox for about six months now...they wanted $100 to change it...plus the part itself was $40+++...I will get around to it sometime soon though...only delaying the process because I have to crawl underneath the vehicle to change it and it looks pretty rusty...and it isn't one of those clip-on connnectors either...so I may need to change the connector as well and wanted to get one before I started the job...

I still have the original fuel filter, but my truck has only 17,500 miles. I plan on changing it as soon as it hits around 25k.

Changed it at 245,000 on my '96 2.3. No real reason, just figured it was about time, and I had nothing else to do anyway. I stuck a few rare earth magnets on it, just to help snag any rust that may be forming.

If someone wants to hit me with a stick I will understand, but I changed my original yesterday, 235,420 miles. I poured the fuel in the filter out over a paper towel and it was clear as it could be, but there is still no excuse for not changing it...it's too cheap and easy to neglect so simple a maintenance must. $10.00 and 15 minutes.

wow, it's good to know these trucks will run forever without changing them.... but I change mine ever 4 oil changes.

There's no reason to not change them on a Ranger...it is about one of the easiest maintenance tasks to complete...and following a set routine is always a good idea for things that are easy to do...I still haven't changed the one on my zuki and I just noticed that I posted this in March...oooops...
